Bengals CB Leon Hall Wednesday was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in last week's victory over St. Louis.

Hall had a 19-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter of the 31-7 win, and he had an additional pass defensed on a fourth-down play from the Cincinnati 23 in the fourth quarter. His six tackles included stops against Rams ballcarriers after gains of only one, minus-one and two yards.

Hall's pick against Rams quarterback Nick Foles was his second this season and the 26th of his Bengals career, moving him ahead of cornerback Lemar Parrish into fourth place all-time for Cincinnati. The play was Hall's third career pick-six in regular season play,. He also returned his only post-season interceptions for a touchdown in the 2012 postseason at Houston.

The Player of the Week award is the second for Hall, a ninth-year veteran. He earned his first AFC weekly defensive honor in Week 16 of 2008, when his Bengals record-tying three interceptions at Cleveland, including one for a 50-yard TD, sparked a 14-0 win. No Bengal has intercepted three passes in a game since.

The most recent Bengal to win AFC Defensive Player of the Week is cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick in Week 16 against Denver of last season.

Hall's award is the fourth weekly or monthly AFC award earned by the Bengals this season. Wide receiver A.J. Green was named Offensive Player of the Week for his 227-yard, two-TD performance at Baltimore Sept. 27, kicker Mike Nugent won the special teams honor for his tying and winning field goals Oct. 11 against Seattle, and quarterback Andy Dalton was named Offensive Player of the Month for October, when he led the Bengals to a 3-0 record with a 111.6 passer rating.
