Five Observations from Day 4 of Bengals Training Camp

1. Good Start for Shemar

It was great to get an up-close reminder that Shemar Stewart is 6'5, 267 lbs, and ran a 4.59 40-yard dash with a 40" vertical jump.

"This guy is special," said former college teammate McKinnley Jackson. "He's like a freaking bullet train."

2. Burrow on Point

Joe Burrow rarely missed for most of practice — particularly with his intermediate throws to Tee Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase and Andrei losivas.

"There's a lot of belief in the locker room that this guy can lead us to everything we want to achieve," Zac Taylor said.

3. Anderson Picks off Browning

Safety Tycen Anderson had the first INT of camp on a Jake Browning pass that was tipped by CB Nate Brooks.

The training camp leader in picks typically gets a prize.

"We're keeping a tally on it," Anderson said. "There's always a competition for sure."

4. Bend Don't Break

The day ended with a low red zone period, and the defense didn't allow Burrow to throw a TD.

"The guys responded well at the end, and that's a metaphor for a game, right?" safeties coach Jordan Kovacs said. "It's not always going to go your way, but it's about how you respond."

5. McPherson Still Perfect

Another 6-for-6 day for Evan McPherson, who's made all 18 of his FGA.

Cal Adomitis and William Wagner are splitting long-snapper reps.

"It's going to be a battle," special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons said. "We've got to try to find the one that's the most efficient and makes our whole operation easy."
