Bengals Annual Canned Food Drives Scores 12,000 Pounds of Food for Freestore Foodbank

Bengals fans donated more than 12,000 pounds of food and nearly $22,000 in cash to the Freestore Foodbank last week, during the 30th Annual Canned Food Drive.

This effort will allow the Freestore Foodbank to provide 75,948 meals to help feed families in the Tri-State area during the upcoming holidays.

The majority of donations were made this past Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium, prior to the Bengals' game against the Buffalo Bills. Fans donated 9675 pounds of food and $21,915 in cash. Additionally, Uber helped collect 2565 pounds of food from fans throughout the city on Thurs., Nov. 17, helping boost the food total over the 12,000-pound mark.

Food donations were up significantly from 2015, when the total was 7215 pounds. Cash donations were slightly more than 2015, when the total was $21,600.

U-Haul of Southwest Ohio provided U-Box Containers around the stadium, used to collect the canned goods.
