Quintet of Quarterbacks

Five quarterbacks - Wyoming's Josh Allen, USC's Sam Darnold, Louisville's Lamar Jackson, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and UCLA's Josh Rosen - are projected to be selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

If all five quarterbacks are selected in the first round, it would mark the third time that at least five quarterbacks have been selected in the Draft's opening round since the inception of the common draft in 1967. The 1983 NFL Draft holds the record with six quarterbacks selected in the first round, including Pro Football Hall of Famers John Elway, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino.

Three's Company

If three quarterbacks are selected within the top five picks of the 2018 NFL Draft, it would mark the third time since 1967 in which three quarterbacks were selected in the top five, joining the 1971 and 1999 NFL Drafts.

Heisman QBs

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield and Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson could become the third pair of Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks to be selected in the same draft since 1967. Mayfield, who won the Heisman in 2017, and Jackson, who won the award in 2016, are both projected to be first-round picks.

Top Back

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley is projected to be the first running back off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft. If selected first overall, Barkley would become the seventh running back in the common draft era to earn that distinction and first since Ki-Jana Carter in 1995.

If Barkley is selected in the top five, it would mark the third consecutive year in which a running back has been a top five pick, tied for the third-longest streak in the common draft era.

Crimson Catches

Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley is projected to be one of the first wide receivers selected in the NFL Draft.

If chosen in the first round, Ridley would become the fourth Crimson Tide wide receiver to be selected in the first round in the common draft era.

Luck of the Irish

Notre Dame offensive linemen Quenton Nelson and Mike Mc Glinchey hope to hear their names called in the first round of the Draft.

If both Nelson and McGlinchey are selected in the first round, they would be the second pair of Notre Dame offensive linemen to be selected in the first round of the same NFL Draft since 1967, joining Paul Seiler (12th overall) and Tom Regner (23rd overall) who were both taken in the first round of the 1967 NFL Draft.

Nelson, who is projected to be one of the first offensive linemen selected, can become the third Notre Dame offensive lineman selected in the top ten of an NFL Draft since 1967, joining Ronnie Stanley and George Kunz.

If both Nelson and McGlinchey are selected in the top 20, it would mark the eighth time since 1967 that two offensive line teammates have been selected in the first 20 picks of the first round of the same NFL Draft.

Run on Tackles

At least two offensive tackles have been selected in the first round of 11 consecutive NFL Drafts and in 26 of the past 27 drafts dating back to 1991.

Elite Pack

North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb is projected to be taken early in the first round of the NFL Draft.

If chosen in the top five, Chubb would become the third player in North Carolina State history to be selected with a top five pick in the common draft era.

Pac-12 D-Line

Washington defensive tackle Vita Vea is projected to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Vea could become the eighth defensive lineman from the Pac-12 to be picked in the first round in the past four NFL Drafts.

Sensational Smith

Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith is projected to be taken early in the first round of the NFL Draft.

If chosen in the top ten, Smith would become the fifth defensive player from Georgia to be selected with a top ten pick in the common draft era.

As a junior in 2017, Smith was honored as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and the Butkus Award winner, given to the nation's top linebacker.

Since 2003, 11 of the 15 SEC Defensive Players/Co-Players of the Year have been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, including 2017 first-round pick Jonathan Allen.

Since 2008, six of the nine Butkus Award winners have been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Highly-Touted Hokie

Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is projected to be one of the first defensive players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

If selected in the first round, Edmunds would become the third Hokie defensive player to be picked in the first round in the common draft era.

Bama Backs

Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick is projected to be taken early in the first round of the NFL Draft.

If chosen in the top ten, Fitzpatrick would become the fourth Crimson Tide defensive back to be selected with a top ten pick in the common draft era and the third since 2012.

The Tide Rolls On

If Alabama has a player selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Crimson Tide will pass Florida (1983-91) for the second-longest consecutive streak of players drafted in the first round since the advent of the common draft in 1967. Alabama currently has nine consecutive drafts with at least one first-round pick.

Miami (1995-2008) holds the longest streak with 14 consecutive drafts having at least one player selected in the first round.

Seminole Success

Florida State defensive back Derwin James hopes to hear his named called near the top of the NFL Draft.

If chosen in the top ten, James would become the fourth defensive back from Florida State to be selected in the top ten in the common draft era.

Buckeye Brilliance

Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward is projected to be taken early in the first round of the NFL Draft.

If chosen in the first round, Ohio State would become the first school in the common draft era to have five defensive backs selected in the first round over a three-year span.

Hawkeye History

Iowa cornerback Josh Jackson is projected to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

If selected in the first round, Jackson would become the fifth defensive player from Iowa to be chosen in the first round in the common draft era.

Flying Cardinals

Louisville cornerback Jaire Alexander is projected to be one of the first defensive backs off the board in the first round of the NFL Draft.

If chosen in the top 15, Alexander would become the fourth player from the Cardinals' defense to be selected with a top 15 pick in the common draft era.
