Five Observations from Day 5 of Bengals Training Camp

1. Perfect Rating for Ja'Marr

Ja’Marr Chase was all smiles after becoming the first player in team history to receive a 99 rating in Madden.

"I would've thought somebody was already a 99 — like AJ Green you know?" Chase said. "It's basically a dream come true."

2. Chase and Andrei

When they are not with their position groups, Andrei Iosivas and Chase Brown are inseparable on the field.

"We're honestly trying to outdo each other," Brown said. "We're both extremely competitive and we're both trying to increase our role in such an explosive offense."

3. Shemar Shines

After practice moved indoors, Shemar Stewart deflected Jake Browning passes on back-to-back snaps.

"You saw the physicality," said D-line coach Jerry Montgomery. "You saw him affect the backfield. You tip a ball, you change the game. Tips and overthrows go to the defense."

4. Mims Impressed by Rookie Stewart

Yesterday, Stewart described Amarius Mims' heavy hands as "two bricks in my chest."

Today, Mims returned the compliment. "He's a fierce ball of fire," said Mims. "Look at him! We drafted him with the 17th pick for a reason. I 100% believe that he's going to be a great player."

5. Strong Day for Charlie Jones

Charlie Jones had his best day of camp after having two surgeries in the offseason to fix a sports hernia.

"This is the best I felt since coming into the league," said Jones. "I'm ready to make plays whenever they need me and wherever they need me."
