Five Observations from Day 17 of Bengals Training Camp

1. Volson Out

Guard depth took a hit with news that Cordell Volson could miss the year with a shoulder injury.

"He was having a good camp," Zac Taylor said. "He's one of those guys that you just appreciate embracing whatever role you put them in."

2. Burrow to Brown

The coverage by Logan Wilson is excellent. But the Joe Burrow to Chase Brown throw and catch is even better.

"Listen, if you're in good coverage, that dude is going to put it where only his guy can get it," Wilson said. "Sometimes they make good plays, and that's part of it."

3. Bland Preseason Defense

Preseason schemes are always vanilla, but are the Bengals keeping it especially bland on "D" since teams don't know what to expect from new coordinator Al Golden?

"Oh yeah," Taylor said. "What our identity is on tape — there's no reason to put it out there right now."

4. Charlie Jones Continues Impressing

A great camp and preseason continues for Charlie Jones, who has seven catches for five first downs and a touchdown in the two preseason games.

"I'm definitely more confident," Jones said. "I've been healthy this camp, which is a big part of it."

5. No Doubts about Demetrius

LB Demetrius Knight hasn't flashed in the two games, but Taylor doesn't sound concerned.

"There's learning to be done, but he's had an outstanding camp," Taylor said. "Demetrius is a guy that sees something once and you make a correction, and the next time he's lights out."
