Two Bengals up for weekly awards

Bengals cornerback Leon Hall and running back Cedric Benson have been recognized by the NFL for their efforts in Cincinnati's 14-0 shutout of the Cleveland Browns last Sunday.

Hall is one of five nominees for this week's GMC Sierra Defensive Player of the Week honors while Benson is one of three finalists for FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

Fans can vote on NFL.com for Hall and Benson. Voting for GMC Sierra Defensive Player of the Week will take place from Tuesday morning through 4 p.m. ET Thursday. The winner will be announced Thursday evening on NFL.com.

Voting for FedEx Ground Player of the Week will remain open until this Friday at 11 a.m. ET. The winner will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com.

Hall made two tackles and had three interceptions, returning one 50 yards for a touchdown that gave the Bengals a 7-0 lead and was the catalyst for Cincinnati's dominating rushing performance that allowed running back Cedric Benson to lug the ball 38 times for 171 yards in the victory.

Other nominees for GMC Sierra Defensive Player of the Week include Titans DE Jason Jones, Ravens S Ed Reed, Redskins DE Jason Taylor and Seahawks CB Josh Wilson.

The other finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week honors include Derrick Ward of the New York Giants and fullback Le'Ron McClain of the Baltimore Ravens.
