Thursday notes: Injured being cautious

Updated: 5:25 p.m.

For the second straight day Thursday, middle linebacker Rey Maualuga (ankle), cornerback Adam Jones (hamstring), and tight end Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) sat out practice as head coach Marvin Lewis moved the proceedings into Paul Brown Stadium during a rainy afternoon on FieldTurf.

On Wednesday all three said they were going to be cautious and their chances of playing now have to fall into the questionable category at best. For the second straight day guard Mike McGlynm missed practice for a non-injury related reason.

Safety Chris Crocker (knee) and cornerback Nate Clements (knee) returned to work Thursday after sitting out Wednesday and were limited, as were left end Carlos Dunlap (groin) and outside linebacker Thomas Howard (hamstring) for the second straight day.
