THE SERIES
Jets lead, 16-7; 11-2 at home (3-2 at Shea Stadium, 8-0 at the Meadowlands, 0-0 at the New Meadowlands Stadium).

NOTEWORTHY
» The Bengals haven't beaten the Jets in New York since the second game of the 1981 AFC championship season. After getting benched during an opener won by backup QB Turk Schonert,Ken Anderson began his march to the 1981 NFL MVP in a 31-30 victory in which he threw for 252 yards to bring the Bengals back from a 17-3 deficit on Sept. 13, 1981.

» The old Meadowlands against the Jets is where Bengals QB Carson Palmer made his preseason NFL debut in 2003 and his regular-season debut in 2004. The old building was a menace for him. He missed the rest of the preseason when he tore some tendons in his foot in that '03 opener and he hurt his elbow in a 2008 game there against the Giants that caused him to miss 12 games.

» Naturally, Palmer may not be able to play in the Bengals' first game in the New Meadowlands because of an injury to his foot. Palmer's brother Jordan would make his first NFL start and become the first Bengals QB since Carson on Sept. 12, 2004 to make his first NFL start.

» Since that day, only two other quarterbacks have started for the Bengals, Jon Kitna three games in 2004 and Ryan Fitzpatrick those 12 Palmer missed in 2008.

» This is the Bengals' fourth appearance on NFL Network and first since 2008. They beat a defense coordinated by Jets head coach Rex Ryan in 2006 with a 13-7 win over Baltimore at Paul Brown Stadium. They lost, 20-13, in San Francisco in 2007 and 27-10 in Pittsburgh in 2008.

» It marks the club's first Thanksgiving Day game in history and sixth on Thursday night, when the Bengals are 4-2.

» On Sunday, Bengals WR Terrell Owens passed Titans WR Randy Moss into fourth place on the all-time touchdown list with 155. On Thursday he'll be on the field with the man he's chasing, Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson, in third with 158.

» Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham leads AFC rookies with 42 catches. Bengals WR Jordan Shipley is tied for second with Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez at 35.

NFL RANKINGS CIN: 20th in scoring, 14th in offense (23rd rushing, 8th passing); 18th in defense (23rd rushing, 18th passing), tied for 19th in turnover margin at minus-2.

NYJ: Tied for 11th in scoring, 8th in offense (4th rushing, 17th passing), 7th in defense (5th rushing, 16th passing), tied for 9th in turnover margin at plus-5.

COACHESCIN: Marvin Lewis 58-63-1 regular season, 0-2 postseason in his eighth season, 1-4 vs. Jets.

NYJ: Rex Ryan 19-10 in his second season; 2-0 vs. Bengals and Lewis.
