Bengals fill spot with Hawkins, add Binns to PS

The Bengals replaced injured wide receiver Jordan Shipley (ACL) on the roster Tuesday with Andrew Hawkins, a wide receiver from their practice squad, and replaced him on the squad with former University of Cincinnati wide receiver Armon Binns.

The 5-7 175-pound Hawkins, coming off two seasons with Grey Cup champion Montreal in the CFL, is viewed as a versatile player that can return kicks as well as cover them. He had a 32-yarder during the preseason on his first punt return since high school. He also had one catch for 15 yards and returned two kickoffs for a 23-yard average. It remains to be seen if he's one of the five active receivers on game day, or if rookie Ryan Whalen is active for his first NFL game.

The undrafted Binns signed as a free agent with Jacksonville and was cut before the regular season started.
