Bengals claim safety on waivers

The Bengals on Thursday acquired safety DeAngelo Willingham on waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

Willingham (6-0, 200; Tennessee) is classified a first-year NFL player in 2010. He entered the NFL as a rookie on May 1 of last year as a college free agent with Tampa Bay.

He played in Tampa Bay's first three preseason games, with eight tackles, and was acquired on waivers by Dallas on Aug. 31. He played in the Cowboys preseason finale (one special-teams tackle) and was waived by Dallas on Sept. 5. He spent Games 1-3 of the regular season on New England's practice squad and spent the last nine games on Seattle's practice squad. He was signed to Seattle's offseason roster on Jan. 5 of this year.
