Bengals claim RB Peerman on waivers

The Bengals on Tuesday acquired running back Cedric Peerman on waivers from the Detroit Lions.

Peerman (5-9, 210; Virginia) is a first-year NFL player in 2010. He entered the NFL last season as a sixth-round draft choice of Baltimore (185th overall), and in preseason for the Ravens, he had 14 rushes for 40 yards (2.9 avg.) with a touchdown and four receptions for 42 yards (10.5).

He was acquired on waivers by Cleveland on Sept. 6. He was a gameday roster inactive for the Browns for Games 1-2, and after being released, spent Weeks 4-7 on the Browns practice squad. He was released by the Browns on Oct. 27, signed to the Detroit practice squad on Oct. 30, and was signed to Detroit's roster on Dec. 15. He played in Games 14-15 for the Lions (no statistics) and was inactive for Game 16. His contract expired following the '09 season, he re-signed with Detroit on March 16 of this year, and he was waived by the Lions yesterday.
