Whitworth finally makes it

Updated: 10:55 a.m.

Mobile, Ala. - Bengals left guard Andrew Whitworth expects to get a medical clearance Wednesday after helping coach the North team in a morning Senior Bowl practice at Ladd Peebles Stadium.

Whitworth, who made the seven-hour drive from Monroe, La., missed the last six games of the 2008 season with a high ankle sprain. But he looked nimble Wednesday as he helped offensive line coaches Paul Alexander and Bob Surace.

Whitworth, a second-round pick in 2006 from LSU, wasn't chosen for this game his senior year.

"It's nice to finally make it on the field," Whitworth said.

Also Wednesday, University of Cincinnati's Connor Barwin is working at defensive end after working the first two days at tight end.
