T.J. still here; Palmer options still open

9:40 p.m.

With Tuesday's trading deadline come and gone and Carson Palmer's status still in question, it looks like the Bengals aren't throwing in any towels at 0-6.

Pro Bowl wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh may have drawn some inquiries, but the Bengals held on to one of their most reliable offensive threats even though he's unsigned after this season and there appears to be no live negotiations between the parties.

There was no word on Palmer's journey through the medical backwaters, but he is scheduled to meet with the media Wednesday even though he's not starting Sunday against the Steelers.

Palmer is expected to talk about his inflamed elbow and his meeting with Mets team doctor David Altchek on Monday as well as consultations with other medical people and head coach Marvin Lewis.

But there may not be much definitive to come out of Wednesday's session after Altchek recommended more conservative treatment.
