Rey set for Georgetown return

Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga says his upcoming rehab is supposed to take four weeks, "but since it's me and I'm Samoan, make that two weeks," he said.

Maualuga was just joking around, but he revealed through his Twitter account Thursday that he won't be back on the field until the opening of training camp late next month after a minor surgical procedure removed a callus that had formed when his broken fibula healed.

Reached later Thursday, Maualuga said he wanted to get something done so it wouldn't interfere with camp.

"I was having some pain on the field and then it got to the point where it was giving me trouble when I was walking," Maualuga said. "I figured why wait. Do it now. I don't think there are going to be any problems getting ready for camp."

Maualuga is on crutches and won't be available for next week's two voluntary sessions to be followed by the June 15-17 mandatory minicamp.
