The Bengals got a surprise Tuesday when they confirmed wide receiver Chad Ochocinco showed up at Paul Brown Stadium before a voluntary workout and took a physical and then he confirmed later in the day that he did get some reps in his first voluntary session since '07.

"They were running me in there at times and working me through," The Ocho said. "Everybody looked good to me."

Head coach Marvin Lewis said last week he wouldn't immerse Ochocinco right away until he saw what kind of shape he was in and until he got acclimated a bit to some of the new parts of the offense. Players and coaches have said the playbook has been tinkered with beyond normal during this offseason.

"I'll see the playbook in the next couple of days and it won't take me long," Ochocinco said.

After seeing quarterback Carson Palmer throw for the first time since October, The Ocho reported all is well.

"Oh my goodness, yes," he said of Palmer's elbow.

It was in stark contrast to last year's return to a media circus during the minicamp after an offseason Ochocinco ripped the club and demanded a trade in hopes of securing a new contract. No media access had been scheduled Tuesday and there won't be until Thursday.
