THE SERIES

NOTEWORTHY

»» It is the Bengals' first regular-season visit to AT&T Stadium, otherwise known as "Jerry's World." It marks the third time in seven road games the Bengals have played their first game in a new stadium. Last December the Bengals won in San Francisco and last November lost in Glendale, Ariz.

»» It is Bengals QB Andy Dalton's first regular-season trip back to the city where he played his college ball at Texas Christian. He arrives with a 25-15 road record, among the top three of active QBs.

»» The only time the Bengals won in Dallas was the year before Jerry Jones bought the club and fired the only coach the Cowboys ever had, Tom Landry. The Bengals were 2-2 against Landry until Nov. 20, 1988, when James Brooks outrushed Herschel Walker, 148-131, in the Bengals' 38-24 victory at Texas Stadium. They went to the Super Bowl while the Cowboys finished 3-13.

»» The game comes eight years and five days to the day of the Bengals' last game in Dallas, when current head coach Jason Garrett was the Cowboys offensive coordinator in the home team's 31-22 victory. Current Cowboys TE Jason Witten had a four-yard TD catch from Tony Romo in a game best known for injured Bengals QB Carson Palmer's last start of the 2008 season.

»» Garrett is the brother of John Garrett, a former Bengals wide receiver in that First Year of Jerry in 1989 who went on to serve as a Bengals assistant coach for six seasons at the turn of the century. John Garrett is now the offensive coordinator at the University of Richmond.

»» Cowboys Pro Bowl RG Zack Martin is the brother-in-law of Bengals Pro Bowl TE Tyler Eifert. They were teammates at Notre Dame.
