NOTEWORTHY
» Last time the Bucs played in Cincinnati on Sept. 29, 2002, they went on to win the Super Bowl after a 35-7 win over Cincinnati raised their record to 3-1. It was Akili Smith's 17th and last start for the Bengals (12-33, 117 yards and a pick) with the only Bengals score coming on linebacker Brian Simmons's 51-yard interception return. Smith's final career record: 3-14 with two wins over the Browns and Denver.

» The only player left from that Bengals team, wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, suffered his last zero-catch day as Chad Johnson and wouldn't have another one until last season's regular-season finale when the starters were iced for much of the game against the Jets in preparation for the playoffs.

» The Bucs have ransacked the last two Bengals rookie classes. On Tampa's active roster are backup safety Corey Lynch, a sixth-rounder from '09, and backup fullback Chris Pressley, a Wisconsin free agent from '09. Wide receiver Dez Briscoe, a sixth-rounder from this season, is on the practice squad.

» Bengals kicker Mike Nugent began last season with the Buccaners and got released a year ago this week after he missed four of his first six attempts. He's hit 10 of his first 11 with the Bengals and that one was blocked.

» Terrell Owens needs 229 yards to break teammate Chad Ochocinco's NFL record of 450 yards receiving in consecutive games.

» Another 200-yard game gives Owens the same number as The Ocho with two in a Bengals uniform.

» The Ocho needs one more TD catch to become the franchise leader in receiving TDs with 64, passing Carl Pickens.

» The game pits two graduates of the Bill Walsh NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship program. The Bengals' Marvin Lewis had two stints, one with the 49ers in 1988 when he was at New Mexico and another with Kansas City in 1991 while at the University of Pittsburgh. Tampa Bay's Raheem Morris worked with the Jets in 2001 while at Hofstra.

» Lewis is 11-2-1 in home games against the NFC.

» The last time the Bengals beat the Bucs, Oct. 29, 1989 at Riverfront Stadium, Jim Breech set the PAT record for a game with eight in a 56-23 victory, the most points the Bengals have ever scored against an NFC team.

NFL RANKINGS CIN: Tied for 14th in scoring, 10th in offense (23rd rushing, sixth passing); Tied for sixth in defense (15th rushing, ninth passing), tied for sixth in turnover margin at plus-3.

TB: 25th in scoring, 26th in offense (20th rushing, 23rd passing), 20th in defense (28th in rushing, 10th passing), tied for fourth in turnover margin at plus-4.

COACHESCIN: Marvin Lewis 58-57-1 regular season, 0-2 postseason in his eighth season; 0-1 vs. Bucs
TB: Raheem Morris 5-14 in his second season, 0-1 vs. Bengals and Lewis
