NFL Network airs Freezer Bowl

Posted: 4:40 p.m.

As part of its new weekly NFL Classic Games series, NFL Network is airing (Monday, June 9, 8 p.m.) a replay of "The Freezer Bowl," the 1981 AFC Championship game at Riverfront Stadium between the Bengals and Chargers when the wind chill reached an unbelievable minus-59 degrees.

The Chargers entered the game as heavy favorites, but saw the elements neutralize their high-octane attack as the Bengals walked away with a 27-7 victory that put them in Super Bowl XVI.

NFL Network will air repeats of The Freezer Bowl on Tuesday, June 10 (noon) and Saturday, June 14 (9 a.m. and 8 p.m.).
