The final tally donor tally was a record-breaking 436 for yesterday's Bengals/Hoxworth Community Blood Drive, presented by Champion Window. The site was Paul Brown Stadium.

"No one in our office can recall any single-day, regularly scheduled blood drive ever exceeding 400 donors," said Michael Anderson, public information officer for the Hoxworth Blood Center. "After Sept 11, 2001, we had days with 600-plus donors, but that was spread among many events around the city. We could not be more pleased with this annual event we've developed with the Bengals, and we are already planning for next year."

Tight end Tony Stewart was the honorary Bengals chair of the event, and a lengthy appearance was made by head coach Marvin Lewis.

"On behalf of the Bengals and Hoxworth, I want to thank the people of Greater Cincinnati for their support of this vital cause," Lewis said. "It's gratifying to see how this event has grown in four years."

Persons wishing to donate blood who missed Wednesday's event are encouraged to contact the Hoxworth Blood Center at 513-451-0910 to schedule an appointment at one of several area donor locations.
