Bengals activate Coffman, cut Foschi; Colts ice Collie

Updated: 9 p.m.

With the Bengals 2-6, the influx of youth has begun.

For the second straight day the Bengals signed a player from their practice squad Tuesday when tight end Chase Coffman got the call and veteran tight end J.P. Foschi was released after getting picked up late last month and playing in the last two games.

Coffman, a third-round pick in 2009 who suffered an injury-plagued rookie season, was on the active roster for 12 games last season before going on injured reserve with ankle problems.

The 6-5, 250-pound Coffman, who came out of Missouri as the most prolific pass-catching tight end in NCAA history, played in the five preseason games and had two catches for 32 yards.

Before Monday's game the Bengals signed another '09 draft pick from the practice squad in defensive tackle Clinton McDonald and cut safety Rico Murray. They figure to try and re-sign Murray to the squad.

Also Tuesday, ProFootballTalk.com reported that Colts safety Bob Sanders (biceps tendon) and wide receiver Austin Collie (concussion) won't play this Sunday against the Bengals. The Colts also cut cornerback Deshea Townsend and running back Andre Brown and have those roster spots open.
