Congratulations to Kristi and Jon Hayes for last week's waiver wire pickup. Jewett Edward Hayes III arrived in time for next weekend's mandatory minicamp at nine pounds, eight ounces. The new son of the Bengals tight ends coach also means a new nephew for Bengals defensive line coach Jay Hayes, Jon's brother.

Also, belated congratulations to Rhonda and Darrin Simmons for their draft choice to be named, Weston Joseph. The son of the Bengals special teams coach came in kicking at eight pounds, five ounces a week before the NFL Draft.

The greatest player in Bengals history was considered a draft risk because he only played one full game his senior year of college with a knee injury. Choosing Anthony Munoz with the third overall pick proved to be brilliant. Amarius Mims missed six games with an ankle injury last year and only started eight games in three seasons at Georgia, but the Bengals didn't hesitate to select him with the 18th pick Thursday night in the first round of the NFL Draft.
