The Bengals today signed HB Joe Mixon to a four-year contract extension through the 2024 season. He had been entering the final season of his rookie deal.

Mixon, a fourth-year pro, originally was a Bengals second-round draft pick out of the University of Oklahoma in 2017. He has played in 44 career games (35 starts), with 693 carries for 2931 yards and 17 TDs, and 108 catches for 870 yards and four receiving TDs.

Mixon topped 1000 rushing yards in each of the last two seasons, making him one of only five Bengals ever with to hit that mark in multiple seasons — the others are Corey Dillon (six), Cedric Benson (three), James Brooks (three) and Rudi Johnson (three). He enters 2020 with nine career 100-yard rushing performances, and 16 games with at least 100 yards from scrimmage.

"We are excited that we got this done with Joe," said Bengals head coach Zac Taylor. "He has been a valuable weapon for our offense and team. Joe provides great energy not only on the field but in the building as well, and we are ready to move forward as we prepare for the Chargers."
