Dolphins Offense

Miami will start Seventh-round pick Quinn Ewers against the Bengals Sunday. Ewers saw action in cleanup duty against the Browns in Week 7, where he completed five-of-eight passes for 53 yards and two first downs. The former Longhorn earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2024, leading Texas to back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances in 2023 and 2024. QB Tua Tagovailoa takes a seat after leading the league with 15 interceptions this season.

RB De'Von Achane is the engine that makes the offense run. He ranks third in the NFL in rushing yards (1,186) and first in the league in yards per carry among those with at least 50 carries (5.8). He's a receiving threat out of the backfield as well, ranking fourth among running backs with 450 receiving yards and tied for third with four receiving touchdowns. His 88.8 PFF-offensive grade ranks third among all running backs, and his 91.0 PFF-rush grade ranks first. During Miami's four-game winning streak from Weeks 10-14, they averaged 192.3 rushing yards per game but only ran for 63 yards in Week 15.

Jaylen Waddle leads the Miami receiving options after Tyreek Hill went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. Waddle ranks in the top 20 in the NFL with 838 receiving yards and is tied for 14th with six receiving touchdowns. He shares the team lead for receiving touchdowns with TE Darren Waller, who came out of retirement to join the Dolphins and has played in seven games in 2025. Waller has posted an 88.0 PFF-receiving grade, the third best among tight ends. His 84.0 offensive grade is tied for second at the position.

The Dolphins offensive line struggled to keep Tagovailoa upright when he was under center, allowing the 10th-most sacks in the NFL. Tagovailoa has been taken down 30 times despite a concerted effort to get the ball out quickly: He has an average time to throw of 2.65 seconds, the third-quickest in the NFL, per NextGenStats. Miami has posted the fourth-worst PFF pass-block grade in 2025 (52.5).

Dolphins Defense

Miami has posted average ranks in both yards per game (334.6) and points per game (23.1) allowed in 2025. They've been susceptible to the run, allowing 132.1 rushing yards per game, the sixth most in the NFL, and 4.7 yards per carry, the fifth most.

The Dolphins had a reunion with S Minkah Fitzpatrick before the season, trading CB Jalen Ramsey to the Steelers to bring their 2018 first-round pick back. Fitzpatrick has posted the second-highest PFF grade of his career so far in 2025 (81.8), which also ranks eighth among safeties in 2025. Fitzpatrick has four pass breakups in coverage from his safety spot.

In front of Fitzpatrick, LB Jordyn Brooks leads the NFL with 155 total tackles and ranks ninth with 12 tackles for loss. EDGE Bradley Chubb leads the team with 6.5 sacks and has 42 total pressures on the year, per NextGenStats.

Prior to allowing 28 to the Steelers, Miami's defense had turned a corner: The Dolphins allowed 13.25 points per game over the four games prior to Week 15 and went 4-0 in that stretch.

The Dolphins have forced the 11th-most turnovers in the league, turning teams over 17 times through 15 games. While they rank 24th in the league with seven interceptions, they've recovered 10 fumbles, the second most. Miami has a -2 turnover differential, ranking 18th.

Burrow Nears Milestones in 75th Game

Sunday's contest will be the 75th regular-season game played in Joe Burrow’s career. His career totals entering this week include 1,843 completions, 19,960 passing yards and 148 touchdown passes. He is 16 completions away from passing Patrick Mahomes (1,858) for the most through a player's first 75 games in NFL history, and is one scoring pass away from moving in front of Aaron Rodgers (also had 148) for sole possession of third-most. He also needs just 28 passing yards to surpass Justin Herbert (19,987) for the fifth-most in any player's first 75 outings.

With 40 passing yards, Burrow would be the fifth-fastest player in league history to reach 20,000 in his career. He previously was the fourth-fastest to 15,000 (56 games) and tied for the third-fastest to 10,000 (36 games).

Burrow also is two touchdown throws away from becoming the fifth-fastest QB ever to reach 150 in his career. He would trail only Mahomes (63 games) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Marino (62).

In his only previous career matchup against the Dolphins, Burrow went 20 of 31 for 287 yards and two touchdowns to lead Cincinnati to a home win in Week 4 of the 2022 season.

Ja'Marr on 500 Watch

Ja’Marr Chase enters this week with 496 career receptions in 75 regular-season games played. With four catches against the Dolphins, he would be the second-fastest player in NFL history to reach 500 in his career, trailing only former New Orleans receiver Michael Thomas (69 games).

Chase also is 11 receptions away from tying T.J. Houshmandzadeh (507) for the fifth-most in Bengals history. His 496 catches already are tied for the third-most in a player's first five seasons in league history, and he is 14 away from tying Thomas (510) for second-most.

Chase additionally has 6,572 receiving yards, which is 126 away from matching Cris Collinsworth (6,698) for fifth in team history. Chase's 51 receiving touchdowns are two away from Isaac Curtis (53) for the fourth-most ever by a Bengal.

McPherson Shoots for Muhlmann

Evan McPherson has accounted for 545 points in his NFL career, with 117 made field goals and 194 made extra point attempts. He is four points shy of tying former kicker Horst Muhlmann (549) for fifth on Cincinnati's all-time scoring list. He also is three field goals shy of matching Muhlmann (120) for fifth in team history.

McPherson has converted 23 of 26 field goal attempts this season (88.5 percent), and is a perfect 31-for-31 on extra points.
