Legal Tampering Window Officially Open Ahead of 2026 Free Agency

2026 free agency is off and running with the opening of the legal tampering window Monday. The 52-hour period allows clubs to contact and negotiate with agents of upcoming free agents before the start of the 2026 League Year and the official signing period Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Contracts cannot be signed until after the start of the league year. While no new signings can become official until late Wednesday afternoon, there will be a flurry of reports starting Monday of players agreeing to contract terms with new clubs. Players can put pen to paper with their current clubs in this tampering window, however, as their current contract does not expire until Wednesday at 4 p.m.

After re-signing G Dalton Risner last week, Cincinnati has 13 players slated to become free agents Wednesday. Per OverTheCap, the Bengals also have the eighth-most cap space entering the legal tampering window.
