2009 HIGHLIGHTS: Seventh-round draft pick of Cincinnati was signed Nov. 4 off Arizona practice squad … Inactive for all nine games in which he was with the team (Games 8-16) … Spent entire preseason with Bengals, playing in all four preseason games (no statistics) before being waived Sept. 5.

COACH JIM ANDERSON SAYS: “Fui is a very talented young man. He played both fullback and running back for BYU, and we’ll look for him to make the full transition to fullback in the NFL. He has the want-to, the size and all the athleticism. To play fullback in this league, you have to have the mental toughness to do it, and he has that. It’s our job to coach him to be as good as he can possibly be.”

COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS: CAREER — Played four seasons at Brigham Young (2003 and ’06-08), with a redshirt year in 2002 … Did not play in 2004-05, while serving a church mission … Played in 42 games over four seasons, totaling 1181 rushing yards, and helped lead BYU to a 32-7 record over his final three campaigns. 2008 — Played in 12 games for BYU team that posted 10-3 record … Made eight starts at FB … Posted 4.9-yard rushing average, going 54-for-291 with three TDs. 2007 — Earned team’s Leon White Award for unselfish devotion (Leon White played LB for Bengals from 1986-91, following his BYU career) … Battled injuries to play in 10 games … Helped lead club to Mountain West Conference title, with 11-2 record, including Las Vegas Bowl win over UCLA … Rushed for career-best 97 yards, on just 14 carries, in win at San Diego State. 2006 — Posted career highs in rushing yards (481), rushing TDs (eight) and total TDs (11) … Helped lead BYU to Mountain West title, with an 11-2 record, including 38-8 win over Oregon in Las Vegas Bowl. 2003 — Prior to serving his two-year church mission, launched his BYU career by playing in eight games … Rushed only 30 times, but posted career-best average of 5.2 yards per carry. 2002 — Redshirted as a true freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended East HS in Glendale, Utah, where he was a three-year letter winner in both football and track … Clocked a 40-yard dash time of 4.4 … Rushed for 1107 yards as a senior and was named team’s Most Valuable Player.

PERSONAL: Hometown is Glendale, Utah … Oldest of eight children … Served a two-year church mission in 2004-05 in Carlsbad, Calif. … Was MVP of a national championship rugby team during his high school years … Name is pronounced “FOO-ee vah-kuh-POO-nuh.”
