WRs Optimistic About Green

A.J. Green: MRI results pending.

A.J. Green apparently underwent an MRI Sunday morning and there was no definitive word as the Bengals prepared to practice in the afternoon. The hope is there is no more damage to a sprained left ankle with the thinking he'd miss four weeks after he came down on the outside of his foot when contesting a pass.

His wide receivers group felt a lot better before Sunday's practice than they did after Saturday's practice, which Green left on a cart. They had a sense things weren't as bad as first feared when he showed up in the night meetings after an X-Ray showed the sprain.

"He's good. It's not like anything crazy," said wide receiver Auden Tate. "But you still want to see him out there. He didn't really come down hard or anything. It was kind of like a tweak. Just kind of a football play."

Wide receiver Alex Erickson wasn't surprised that Green's emotions took the best of him when he limped off the field and included punching the bench.

"There's something inside him that eats at him a little bit when he misses even a rep," Erickson said. "Missing time and weeks are hard for him. For a guy that has done the things in this league he's done and comes out and practices the way he practices every single day, I guarantee not many guys of his stature are doing that."
