The Bengals today signed free agent OT Andre Smith and LS Dan Godsil, and waived WR Kermit Whitfield.

Smith (6-4, 325) was originally a first-round pick of the Bengals in 2009, and has played 98 of his 110 career games with Cincinnati. He spent the final five games of last season with the Bengals (three starts), after opening the season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Godsil (6-4, 233), a rookie, spent the last four seasons (2015-18) at Indiana University, where he played in 50 career games. He has not previously been with an NFL team and will be classified as a college free agent.

Whitfield, a first-year player, joined the Bengals as a free agent in 2017 and spent the last two seasons on the practice squad.

Also today, the Bengals made five active list player moves.

  • Sixth-year CB Darqueze Dennard, second-year CB Darius Phillips, third-year G Alex Redmond and rookie OT Jonah Williams were all placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
  • Rookie HB Rodney Anderson was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.

All five of the players moved to the active lists noted above will continue to count against the team's roster limit and can be activated to practice as soon as they are cleared medically.
