AFC'S BEST: Brown was named by NFL as AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for December ... Connected on 11 of 12 FGs (91.7 percent) and eight of eight PATs for 41 points, and his 43-yarder with four seconds left Dec. 23 at Pittsburgh clinched a playoff berth for the Bengals ... His only FG miss was a 56-yard attempt in the same game at Heinz Field, where, since it opened in 2001, no one had connected on an attempt longer than 52 yards.

GAME-WINNERS: Brown has made eight career game-winning FGs in the final minute of regulation or in overtime, including tied-for NFL-record four in 2006 for Seattle team that won NFC West championship. His most recent one—a 43-yarder 12-23-12 at Pittsburgh—sealed a 13-10 win with :04 to play and clinched playoff berth for Bengals.

BIG LEG, AND ACCURATE: Brown’s past coaches have not been reluctant to send him out for long FG attempts. He has 43 career tries of 50 yards or more, an average of 4.8 per year, and with 28 made he has a 65.1 success rate. Only two active kickers have more career 50-plus FGs, Jason Hanson at 52 and Sebastian Janikowski at 40. And Brown’s accuracy rate from 50-plus tops both Hanson (56.5) and Janikowski (55.6).

BROWN GOES DOWNTOWN: Playing for St. Louis on Nov. 1, 2009 at Detroit, Brown completed a 36-yard TD pass to TE Daniel Fells in a game the Rams won by seven (17-10). Brown’s pass came with less than a minute left in the first half and extended a 3-2 St. Louis lead to 10-2. The play stands as the only pass attempt of his career.
