Shirley looks to resume his career in 2011, after being unable to play last season due to Achilles tendon rupture he suffered while playing in charity basketball game in April 2010 … Opens 2011 on Bengals practice squad … Played in three Bengals games at DT in 2008.

PREVIOUS SEASONS: 2010 - Signed Jan. 11 to Bengals offseason roster, after closing 2009 on practice squad … Was not medically cleared to play, due to continuing rehab from knee injury suffered in basketball game in April, and was waived in Non-Football Injury category on July 20 … After clearing waivers, he reverted on July 21 to Bengals Reserve/Non-Football Injury List.

2009 - Opened preseason at DT position, where he played in three Bengals games in 2008, but was switched early in training camp to offensive line … Played on O-line in all four preseason games … Waived Sept. 5, and signed Sept. 6 to practice squad, where he spent the full season.

2008 - Drafted by Bengals in fifth round (145th overall) ... Signed July 15 ... Played in all four preseason games, with seven tackles and one sack ... Played in Games 12-14 ... Game-day inactive for Games 1-10 and 16 ... Active-DNP for Games 11 and 15 ... On Nov. 30 vs. Baltimore, made NFL debut with two tackles ...     The Cincinnati Bengals hosted the 13th annual Taste of the NFL benefiting the Freestore Foodbank. Players and cheerleaders attended the "dinner-by-the-bite" event which involved more than 40 area restaurants. This year's Taste of the NFL raised approximately $130,000 for the Freestore Foodbank, the equivalent of 390,000 meals.
