2009 RECAP: Opened preseason with Cleveland … Played in all four preseason games, with a start at LT on Sept. 3 at Chicago … Waived on Sept. 6 … Not under NFL contract during the regular season.

He had been receiving aggressive treatment to fight the cancer, but recently it was discovered that the cancer had spread. Being a big fan of the Bengals, Alex's family and friends took to social media in an attempt to reach his favorite player: A.J. Green. The support gained through the online community caught the attention of A.J. and he decided pay Alex a visit.
