BENGALS 1979 SUMMARY
Fullback Pete Johnson powered his way to 15 touchdowns, but the Bengals struggled to their second straight 4-12 record. After the season, former Cleveland coach Forrest Gregg was named to replace Homer Rice as Bengals head coach.

1979 NEWS AND NOTES
Chris Bahr and Doug Pelfrey are the only Bengals kickers to convert two field goals of 50 or more yards in the same game. Bahr booted field goals of 55 and 52 yards in a 30-27 overtime loss to Houston at Riverfront Stadium on September 23. Bahr's 55-yarder stands as a franchise record for longest field goal.
