Game Day Headlines

  • Lewis pulling all the right camp strings

By Geoff Hobson - Posted 17 hours ago

As left tackle Andrew Whitworth mused Thursday on the 11th reporting day of his career, the difference between his rookie training camp at Kentucky’s Georgetown College and the one last year at homey Paul Brown Stadium? Night and day. With a 12-5 September record since 2011, take a bow Marvin Lewis.

  • Notes: Green eyes efficiency; Vet S Wilson added; Tez injury not serious

By Geoff Hobson - Posted 22 hours ago

The Bengals reported to Paul Brown Stadium Thursday and as five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green began his sixth training camp he says he’s one of a group of about five vying to replace Calvin Johnson as the NFL’s best wide receiver ... They signed vet safety Jimmy Wilson, who knows the defense from days with Kevin Coyle ... Vontaze Burfict went on the non-football injury list, but it's not believed serious ...

  • Willie passes the baton

By Geoff Hobson - Posted Jul 28, 2016

When the weekend clears and training camp is underway, the Bengals expect one of their all-time greats to appear at Monday’s practice and begin working for a few days with the next right tackle. Willie Anderson briefly takes Cedric Ogbuehi under his wing like Joe Walter took Anderson 20 years ago.

  • Mike Brown makes another run for it all

By Geoff Hobson - Posted Jul 26, 2016

Mike Brown is the last guy to take himself seriously. He said so Tuesday, one of those rare days he talks to the media. But with Brown set to turn 81 next month in his franchise’s 49th season, it looks finally to be time to take him as seriously as any NFL owner should be taken.

  • Soup's on

By Geoff Hobson - Posted Jul 26, 2016

Mike Brown hosted Tuesday's annual media luncheon that opens training camp and while he praised Vontaze Burfict and wondered about his three-game suspension, Marvin Lewis gave a ringing endorsement of new right tackle Cedric Ogbuehi. Meanwhile, Darrin Simmons is hosting a casting call at punt return.
