Ochocinco Soldiers for Giving

Posted Oct 15, 2010

Ochocinco
Ochocinco Soldiers for Giving of Cincinnati and Dayton are hosting their second Give Back event starting on Friday, October 15 at all Widmer’s and Springdale Cleaners locations throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. Ochocinco Soldiers will collect new and gently used Coats for Kids donations to benefit Lighthouse Youth Services.

Coats will be collected at all Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Widmer’s locations. In addition, Springdale Cleaners (five locations: Bond Hill, Hyde Park, Monfort Heights, Tri-County and Western Hills) will also collect new and gently used coats. The Greater Cincinnati Coats for Kids campaign ends on October 31, 2010.

Lighthouse Youth Services provides basic necessities to help local youth in need. New and gently-used coats are always needed this time of year, particularly for teenagers who are often forgotten. Each year, Lighthouse relies on the generosity of the community to provide clothes and basic necessities for teenagers living in foster care, group homes, and older youth living independently in supervised apartments, because they have no other place to call home.

Lighthouse Facts:

» There are over 550 young people and families in Lighthouse residential care each night
» Lighthouse staff provides in-home services to over 1,500 families each day
» An average of 200 homeless youth (between the ages of 12 and 24) receive Lighthouse services daily

The Ochocinco Soldiers for Giving group is dedicated to the mission of giving back in the communities where they live, work and play. The Ochocinco Soldiers performed acts of charity earlier this year when they accompanied Chad on the Tour for Giving that kicked off in Cincinnati at the Freestore Foodbank, then stopped at the Children’s Hospital in Atlanta and included a flag football game at the Orlando, Florida Rescue Mission. In August the Soldiers collected non-perishable donations and gift cards at Bengals training camp in Georgetown, Kentucky. All donations benefited the A.M.E.N. House in Georgetown.
