Two Bengals have been recognized by the NFL for their efforts in last Sunday's 34-30 win over the Packers.

PEPSI NEXT ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Rookie running back Giovani Bernard is one of five nominees for Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week. Bernard rushed for 50 yards and scored a touchdown while adding four catches for 49 yards in leading the Bengals to victory.

Bernard is up against Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter, Jets quarterback Geno Smith, Lions defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah and Browns linebacker Barkevious Mingo.

Bengals fans can vote for Bernard now through Friday, September 27 at 3 p.m. ET to determine the Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week. The winner will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

GMC NEVER SAY NEVER MOMENT OF THE WEEK

In addition, Bengals cornerback Terence Newman is one of three nominees for GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week. Newman helped the Bengals pull off something that hadn't been done in 14 years: Win a game after giving up 30 straight points. Newman, who also had an interception earlier in the game, returned a fumble 58 yards for a touchdown after running back Johnathan Franklin fumbled when the Packers attempted to convert a fourth-and-1 opportunity. Newman's score came as the Packers were attempting to put the game out of Cincinnati's reach.

Newman is up against Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer and Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill for this week's GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week award.

You know that saying, “You can never have enough corners?” The Bengals may go down as the architect of that age-old bromide after they took a cornerback in the first round Thursday night for the third time in the last five years. And the selection of Houston’s William Jackson III with the 24th pick makes it five corners in the last 11 drafts dating back to South Carolina’s Johnathan Joseph with that 24th pick in 2006.

Go back to that franchise-changing draft of 2011 when they took the silky smooth A.J. Green with the fourth pick and the deadly resourceful Andy Dalton next with the 35th pick. And just maybe one of the bigger reasons the Bengals have gone to five straight postseasons since is because of who they are as much as what they’ve done.
