NFL expands practice squad to 10

The NFL expanded their practice squads from eight to 10 players Tuesday and opened up two of those spots for players who have earned no more than two accrued seasons of free agency credit. The other eight spots are for players with no accrued seasons.

The Bengals now have an extra pool of players to put on the squad, which is formed after the Aug. 30 final cut to 53 players. Not counting rookies, they have 36 players with two or fewer accrued NFL seasons.

    The day before Andy Dalton threw at the NFL scouting combine, Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden advised, “Make sure you throw everything in the dirt.” Gruden, now Washington's head coach, hopes to make Dalton do it in Sunday's game (9:30 a.m.-Cincinnati's Fox 19) at Wembley.
