Monday update: Tix still on sale; Fanene close

» Head coach Marvin Lewis wouldn’t divulge any information on the injuries to safety Roy Williams and wide receiver Jordan Shipley in his Monday news conference, but he said if defensive lineman Jon Fanene (hamstring) doesn’t return this Sunday he’ll be available for the Oct. 24 game in Atlanta.

» Bengals ticket sales manger Andrew Brown said there are still plenty of available tickets for this Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay and that it is too early to make a call if the Bengals are going to need an extension to Friday to keep alive the 54-game sellout streak.

» Shipley had no comment Monday on the foream to the head delivered by Browns cornerback T.J. Ward that gave him his concussion.

» Indications are that Williams shouldn't miss a lot time. He wasn't on crutches in the locker room Monday. 

» After Dennis Roland and Andre Smith took roughly the same amount of snaps at right tackle Sunday, Lewis said he is going to continue to evaluate the position. The CW is that Smith played better Sunday than he has the past couple of weeks.

“He played more snaps yesterday. We’ll ... evaluate that this week and see what’s the best way to go,” Lewis said. “But I want to keep putting our foot on (Smith) and pressing it and trying to see what’s the best option for us there.”

» Lewis disputed safety Chinedum Ndukwe’s big hit against tight end Ben Watson that was flagged for unnecessary roughness.    

“I don’t think Chinedum’s was an error. You just have to keep coaching them within the rules, in which Chinedum hit him within the rules, Lewis said. “He was in the numbers, it wasn’t with his helmet and so that’s all you can do. It wasn’t even his shoulder. That’s all you can do, is just keep trying to do it the right way. Those guys try to tackle with their arms as much as they can but if they have to take the guy out low they have to take him out low, but they don’t want to risk themselves. You just have to keep going.”
