VOTE HERE: Green-Ellis for FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week

Green-Ellis

For the third consecutive week Bengals running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been named by the NFL as one of three nominees for FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.

Green-Ellis rushed for 118 yards on 25 carries in last Sunday's 20-13 win over the Chargers, Cincinnati's fourth consecutive win. The 100-yard effort was the third straight game in which Green-Ellis topped 100 yards in becoming the first Bengals running back to accomplish the feat since Corey Dillon in 1999.

Green-Ellis is one of three finalists for FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week along with Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles and Vikings RB Adrian Peterson.

Bengals fans can vote for Green-Ellis now through Friday, December 7 at 3 p.m. ET to determine the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. The winner will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program and its commitment to small business owners, FedEx will support education efforts at Junior Achievement by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players’ names. The funding, allocated to local Junior Achievement area offices in that team’s city or state, is used to help U.S. small business development, by educating the next generation of entrepreneurs on how to start and grow their own businesses.

A victory does even more than that and qualifies them for the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The Bengals got some good news when they returned to the practice field Saturday morning at Paul Brown Stadium and SAM linebacker Emmanuel Lamur was in the stretching line with his helmet. Lamur, who left Sunday’s game in Cleveland with a hamstring injury, was limited and classified as doubtful, but it looks like he’s got a chance to play Monday (8:30 p.m.-Cincinnati’s Channel 5 and ESPN) against Denver.

  • Matchup of the Game: greatness stands between Bengals and playoffs

Vincent Rey is a smart man. He’s got his degree from Duke University, he’s a scholar athlete from the College Football Hall of Fame, and the Bengals just tapped him as their Man of the Year nominee for this year‘s Walter Payton Award. So he knows it’s a bit backward to declare before Monday night’s game (8:30-Cincinnati’s Channel 5 and ESPN) against one of the greatest quarterbacks who ever lived that the key is shutting down the run. Madness, right? No one dead or alive has thrown more TD passes than Peyton Manning.
