THE SERIES
Cowboys lead, 6-4; Bengals lead, 3-1 in Cincinnati, 1-0 at PBS.

NOTEWORTHY
» The 7-5 Bengals are tied with the Steelers at 7-5 for the final wild card spot. Both clubs have a two-game lead over the 5-7 Jets, Bills and Dolphins.

» America's Team comes back to PBS for the first time since Nov. 7, 2004, when the Bengals held quarterback Vinny Testaverde's Cowboys to a 24-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff in Cincinnati's 26-3 victory. Current Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer oversaw a Cowboys defense that gave up Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer's 76-yard TD pass to tight end Matt Schobel. Current Bengals starting cornerback Terence Newman had four tackles and two passes defensed for the Cowboys while current Bengals left end Robert Geathers had his breakout game as a rookie, logging his first NFL sack and forced fumble to set up the game's first score.

» The only time the Cowboys have won in Cincinnati came when the Super Bowl champions staved off Bengals QB Jeff Blake making his first NFL start on Oct. 30, 1994 at Riverfront Stadium. Dallas erased a 14-0 lead with a late 23-20 victory on a day current Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was on the sidelines as Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman's backup.

» The last time the two clubs played, current Bengals cornerback Adam Jones led the Cowboys with six tackles and two passes defensed in a 31-22 Dallas victory at Texas Stadium on Oct. 5, 2008.

» Former wide receiver John Garrett, who caught two balls for 29 yards for the 1989 Bengals, returns as his younger brother's passing game coordinator/tight ends coach. Garrett was a Bengals offensive assistant coach from 1995-98 and 2001-2002.

» The only time Hall of Fame coach Paul Brown faced Cowboys Hall of Fame coach Tom Landry while Brown was coaching the Bengals came on Nov. 4, 1973 at Texas Stadium. The Cowboys, behind Cincinnatian Roger Staubach's three TD passes, beat the Bengals, 38-10. There was some speed out there. While Staubach threw a 39-yard TD to Bob Hayes, Cincinnati's Ken Anderson threw a 50-yard TD bomb to another track guy, rookie Isaac Curtis. It was the last loss for the 4-4 Bengals as they won the last six before losing to Miami in the divisional playoffs. The Cowboys also went 10-4 and lost to the Vikings in the NFC championship game.
