Bengals running back Cedric Benson and quarterback Carson Palmer have been recognized by the NFL for their efforts in Cincinnati's 45-10 blowout win over the Chicago Bears last Sunday.

Benson is one of three finalists for FedEx Ground Player of the Week along with Packers running back Ryan Grant and Jets running back Shonn Greene, while Palmer is one of three finalists for FedEx Air Player of the Week with Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

Benson rushed 37 times for a career-high 189 yards and a touchdown against his former team. Palmer completed 20 of 24 pass attempts for 233 yards and five touchdowns to help the Bengals remain in a share of the AFC North lead with a 5-2 mark.

Fans can vote on NFL.com for Benson and Palmer. Voting for both FedEx Ground and Air Player of the Week will remain open until this Friday at noon ET. The winners will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com.

You'll be voting for more than your favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program, FedEx continues its support of Safe Kids USA -- a national non-profit organization that works to prevent accidental injury among children -- by making weekly $1,000 donations in the winning players' names. The funding, allocated to local Safe Kids coalitions in that team's city, is used for pedestrian safety improvements throughout the year, from upgraded crosswalks and street signage to traffic barriers and educational training.

One of the things that AJ McCarron could control back in the day is the splitter that Jake Peavy taught his fellow St. Paul’s Episcopal School alum when Peavy came back from the majors to visit his hometown of Mobile, Ala. But the one-time aspiring big-league hurler is learning there's only so much he can control as a back-up quarterback in the NFL.
