Graham named honorary chair for 2006 WalkAmerica
Graham | The Cincinnati Division of the March of Dimes has named Bengals K Shayne Graham as honorary chair of its 2006 WalkAmerica campaign.
Graham will work with the March of Dimes in the fight against premature births. He will be introduced to WalkAmerica corporate and family team captains at the official 2006 WalkAmerica Kickoff Rally on Feb. 22 at the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Bengals safety Madieu Williams served as honorary chair for the 2005 WalkAmerica.
A record-setting kicker during his three seasons with the Bengals, Graham is also known as one of the team's "go-to" players for work in community relations. He is the Bengals' team nominee for the NFL Man of the Year Award, which rewards excellence on the field combined with community service.
In addition to his involvement with March of Dimes, Graham has worked extensively with the Kicks for Kids foundation, the FreeStore/FoodBank, the YMCA, the Cincinnati VA Hospital and the Fraternal Order of Police.
On the field, Grahams scored a Bengals-record 131 points last season, breaking his own record of 122 from 2004. He has established himself as the club's all-time leader in field goal accuracy (87.5%), and he will enter the 2006 season looking to extend his team records for most consecutive field goals made (14) and most consecutive PATs made (128). He was voted to the AFC All-Star team for the upcoming Pro Bowl game, the first Bengals kicker to earn that honor.
The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky WalkAmerica will be Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Sawyer Point. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m. Registration for the Walk is available online at www.walkamerica.org, or by calling 1-800-525-WALK.
