Bengals, National City Encourage Fans to "Bring a Buck"

Donations for National Breast Cancer Foundation Accepted at All Gates

October 19, 2007 - The Bengals and National City are teaming up to ask fans to "Bring a Buck" to the October 28 Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game. Donations will support the "Cruisin' for a Cure" vans. Donation buckets and kiosks will be stationed at each gate of Paul Brown Stadium.

Last year, Bengals fans made a donation of more than $28,000 as a result of the campaign. If every fan can "Bring a Buck," Bengals fans will make a donation of more than $65,000 to help the fight against breast cancer.

The "Cruisin' for a Cure" vans, a collaborative effort led by the Marvin Lewis Community Fund, provide free transportation to the Pink Ribbon Center in Over-the-Rhine. The Pink Ribbon Center provides free mammograms to women in need.

In addition to the fundraising drive, a special ceremony will take place before the game during which 40 breast cancer survivors will take the field to create a human pink ribbon. The survivors, chosen from more than 400 nominations, represent the strength and courage of all breast cancer survivors.

The events are part of National City's ongoing "Real Men Wear Pink" campaign, promoting breast cancer awareness and featuring Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz and Bengals defensive back Leon Hall as spokespeople.

"There are two million breast cancer survivors in America - enough to fill Paul Brown Stadium 30 times over," said Munoz. "The survivors we're honoring are a small handful of those who command our respect and admiration."

National City is holding a series of events throughout the month to help shed light on the fight against breast cancer. Other local activities to support breast cancer awareness and research include presentation of the Pink Football Award to the breast-cancer survivor of the year, a reception for breast-cancer survivors including remarks from Marvin Lewis, and shining 170,000 watts of pink light on the National City Tower throughout the month.

National City has long championed breast cancer awareness and prevention initiatives through local events and sponsorships as well as products created to support the cause. That includes its special Diamond Edition debit and credit card products, through which a portion of each transaction goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since launching the Diamond Edition program, National City and its customers have raised more than $2 million in donations to support breast cancer prevention and education.

"Breast cancer strikes nearly 200,000 American women each year. It's a disease that touches the lives of each and every one of us, including those of us within the National City family of employees and customers," said Mike Price, CEO of National City in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. "We are proud to support local programs and efforts that generate awareness, bolster prevention and fund research, in hopes of making a difference in the fight against this disease. We believe that our contributions, along with those of our customers and neighbors, will help bring us all one step closer to eradicating this devastating disease."

In addition to Diamond Edition, customers enrolled in points from National City, the company's banking rewards program, have the opportunity to redeem points for donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, which provides mammograms, education kits, breast cancer screenings and support materials to women in need. Customers can donate points by logging on to nationalcity.com/donatepoints.
