• Bengals welcomed home

2-8-10, 4:35 p.m. Domata Peko and his Samoan teammates are home and that is A1 news in a country where the No. 1 export is NFL players and the No. 1 import is national pride. Even before they left Sunday, Peko, the Bengals defensive tackle and a...

2-7-10, 8:30 a.m. With one of Bengals cornerback Ken Riley’s mentors now safely tucked into Canton, his 65 interceptions are drawing the attention of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s senior committee and at least two members think it is reasonable to...

  • Hall taps LeBeau

2-6-10, 8:40 p.m. Fifty years after Paul Brown cut him from his first NFL training camp and 30 years after he hired him as a secondary coach, former Bengals head coach Dick LeBeau on Saturday joined Brown in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Q (2/1/10): Could you please give us some information on each of the 2009 draft picks and what we can expect next year? Where is Andre Smith in his development? We don't hear much about those quys and would like some info.

A: Smith is behind because he missed all of training camp and the first half of the season with the broken foot, but he showed enough flashes late in the year during some big games to make the Bengals think they’ve got a guy that can be a dominant blocker in both the pass and the run. The key is making sure he doesn’t balloon to something ridiculous during the offseason and he shows up at something like 370 or 380 pounds. But if he keeps it under control and stays healthy, what he showed in glimpses at the end of last year would indicate he’s worthy of the sixth pick. Read More

"I feel like we as a team do have a valid chance of competing in the playoffs again. Although we are a very different team than the Saints, their playoff success this year should inspire teams like us to prove the rest of the league wrong. I felt like this Super Bowl game proved a lot of naysayers of the running game wrong. As demonstrated by Joseph Addai, Reggie Bush and Piere Thomas, there is no way to win a championship on passing alone. I think our rebuilt offense is a good fit for the modern day playoff picture. If we can add more play-action and long downfield passes into our game plan, and with a more experienced offenisive line and a strong defense, I think we will have a legitimate shot at winning the AFC North once again and maybe even go all the way to the Super Bowl."
